I just installed a new hard drive on a computer (not mine)that was using SBC Yahoo DSL. Since then, I have been unable to get the ethernet card for the dsl loaded. Using the installation disk for the dsl, it gets to the point where you turn off your computer and load the card and turn the computer back on and the computer recognizes the card but when it goes to the cd-rom for the drivers it says it can't find the drivers. I tried loading a regular 3-com ethernet card just to make sure the computer was ok, and it loaded the 3-com drivers I loaded just fine. I even tried to ignore the install program and just tried to manually install the dsl ethernet card and point to the drivers on the cd-rom and it still won't install. Could the card have gone bad?? Or am I missing something? I know nothing about dsl connections, I've never had one. Does this need to actually be connected to the phone line first for it to be recognized?

Thanks in advance
Annette

might try to call sbc yahoo dsl at 1 877 722 3755
they should be glad to get you to help you :D btw if you ask for 2nd tier they half to get you up to the pro's :)

btw i work for sbc yahoo dsl tech support :D

Why not just keep the 3com card installed? NIC cards are too cheap to be futzing around.

Of all the things I've ever lost, I miss my mind the most......
