I want to set up a home network so i can share my adsl connection. I would like to put my adsl modem between the internet and my router, I do not want to use internet connection sharing thru another computer. The problem is that my provider uses DHCP and is sort of like dial-up. I have to login with username and password, but my connection can cut off at certain times, making me have to login again.
I also want to use DHCP on my network because I have a laptop that I move around to different locations. I cannot afford wireless. Anyway, I need to know if this is possible and if it is, how do I accomplish this task. It seems to me as though I may need to have some sort of control over my adsl modem so I can login to my provider if the connection is lost. I really do not want to have a gateway computer that has to be running in order for the other computers to access the internet.
Thanks
