Hi. I recently bought another hard drive and set it up as a D drive on my Win 98 SE system. I then created a linux partition and installed red hat 7.1 on it so that I have one machine and two OS's: Win 98 SE and Red Hat 7.1.

The DSL service I have is through ameritech, which was pretty good. This is the problem. The DSL connection works fine on Linux, blazing fast and no problems. On Win 98 however, it hangs periodically, probably once every 5 minutes for around 30 seconds. It is like it just stops receiving packets. But, the REALLY wierd thing is that while I am playing online games, there is NO PROBLEM. I can play Q3 online on Windows until the cows come home, but if I try to browse the web for more than five minutes, it gets all cloogy. Has anyone every heard of something like this happening? I have tried reinstalling the ameritech software, but that didn't help. Ameritech tech support is useless. Anyone got any suggestions? I would cancel the service, but the problem has become a little personal...
