HI! and...
Seasons Greetings to all!!

I'm setting our new office. Got a DSL connection > LINKSYS Router. All the wiring has been done. If I didn't screw up any of my connections on those 8-conductor wall plates and modular connectors all should be should work well. All 4 PC's running win2000 and win98 should be able to share and connect to our ISP's DSL High speed connection.

Thing is, our small office only has 1 printer. So, would it be possible to also share this printer within this setup (HP OfficeJet G85, for those inquiring minds)?

If more info is required please let me know.

Thanks for all you comments, much appreciated!

The answer is a resounding yes. If your network is NT based, you'll have to designate a PC to act as a print server. Once you have set up the printer on a computer (named 'pc1' for example) you can access the printers folder and share the printer (name the share 'HPOffJ' for example)

There are then 2 ways to connect to this printer from another PC: One is by setting up a new printer and taking the network option; you can then select the computer and the printer to install.

the other is to map the share using the 'net use' command

net use lpt3: \\pc1\hpoffj

which sorts out any old dos programs which might not like a windows printer.....
