The first week my TDSL (Deutsche Telekom, Munich) connection was working very good, using a Teledat 331 LAN modem (Modem sold by Deutsche Telekom). After the first week the connection is lost after some minutes or 2 hours aprox. I know the settings are ok, because I can connect to internet, surf the web, use messenger, etc. But after some time the performance of the connection decreases and finally it disconnects. When I tried to reconnect it says that the port is open. Then I have to close the network connection to the modem, either by unplugging and plugging again the UTP cable or power cycle the modem. Then I can reconnect.
My computer uses Windows XP Pro, the connection is established as PPPoE, and I have tried with and without the firewall.
I have tried to reset the network interface, but it did not solve the problem. A friend has the same connection, same modem and ISP and similar configuration, but his connection can stay alive for days.
