I have DSL w/ Bellsouth. Works great when ON. When I log off, a MAXIMUM of 10 minutes later,I cannot log back on. I have to restart computer to be able to log on again. Am using WIN ME, but identical problem w/ WIN 98 SE. My friend brought his laptop over, loaded needed software to go DSL w/ my account, and it worked flawlessly. Somehow the problem is definately with my machine. Why is this happening, and how do I fix it? Very specific machine specs follow....
Here is the Web Page with specifics on my machine.
All is correct- Except it was shipped with 256 Ram-And I am using the EXTERNAL USB DSL Modem, Not the onboard modem. (one possibility I was thinking of is maybe I have to disable the onboard modem?) Below is over view of current specs.
Intel Celeron 866MHz Socket 370 FC-PGA CPU with Heatsink and Fan - 256 MB PC100 SDRAM Installed; - Socket 370 Motherboard with Intel 810 Chipset - Integrated AGP Video with Shared Memory - Integrated AC '97 Audio with Crystal Codec - 30GB 4500RPM IDE Hard Drive Installed - 8x8x32 IDE CD-RW Drive Installed - 48x IDE CD-ROM Drive Installed - 1.44MB Floppy Drive Installed - PCI Ethernet NIC Installed - PCI 56K v.90 Modem Installed THANK YOU so much for taking time to look at this for me!!!

The first things that I would look into are your power saving settings - disable all power savings in the BIOS and in Windows and see if it behaves.

if you can plug in your nic on that modem i would go that way and not use usb.
