could someone PLEASE help me with configuring Bell South DSL to a Robanton AFC-600 (ADSL Router )[www.Robanton.com].
It is driving me nuts..... it seems i cannot get a dynamic IP assignment and I do not know the static ip's for this service ( they would't give them to me from tec help, being a residental client. Win XP and no hub ( for now) just straight to the PC lan ....just to get it to work.

Well, I didn't see any manual for that router at that site, but it appears that Bell South uses PPPoe for connectivity. Access and see if you can find these settings.

smah
I have the manual on pfd file.
I can e-mail it to U .... I couldn't get the URL to open that U mentioned about bellsouth....The config is fairly straight forward for the modem , I just don't have enough info about Bell south DSl to set it up correctly

What I do know is it's PPoA LLC

mstokes53,

The default address for the config of the router is Try accessing that and verify that you've got the correct user ID and password.

Actually, from the portions of the manual that I can read, is the config address of the bridge, and is the config address of the router. How these are diferentiated and why this is done, I can't tell from what I can read.

OK HERE'S THE DEAL....THE SETUP PROGRAM IS ACCESS THROUGH hTTP:\\192.168.0.1 i HAVE BEEN HERE MANY TIMES.....IT'
S THE SETUP PROCESS THAT I CAN'T MASTER I.E. WHETHER bELL SOUTH IS "CHAP OR PAP" WHICH HANDSHAKE DO THEY USE ?
WHY CAN'T I GET A DYNAMIC IP ASSIGNMENT...SHOULD "DHCP " BE CHECKED ON? SHOULD THE BRIDGE BE ENABLED? what should the VPI/VCI BE ?? ARE THEY PPOA (LLC) ??
aaaaaaarrrrrrhhhhhh!!!!

mstokes53,

No need to get upset and SHOUT!

I assume you are using FastAccess? Right? The PDF errors make reading the manual difficult but the questions you're asking won't be in the manual anyway. They should have been provided by BellSouth with your new user kit.

Although I see no references to this Robanton device, try these links for general information. DSL Reports is a wealth of information and their ISP specific forums are very helpful.

What is the correct Username/Password format for logging in to Fast Access?

What are PPPoA, PPPoE, and Bridged Connections?

What are the correct VPI/VCI numbers for BellSouth?

Hope that helps. [yinyang] What goes around - comes around. [wink]

oops Caps lock stuck....sorry!
Actually all of the above are in the moden /bridge/router setup . I have access the setup menu several times..and it is 192.168.0.1 . That said...the DSL setup has a lot of fill in's ...not as easily as linksys or net gear, and on the issue of Bell South ( after spending several times with their tec people.....) they just don't want to give up the codes ( static IP's ect) they just keep trying to sell me the new 150$$ moden from Westec.
Thank U sooo much for the above links , I have a small grip on most of the issues.... just trying to get the puzzel together to get the big pic. ( the ******* thing to work. ) I know this modem is fairly new and not very good info out there on it .
