DSC38 Fax Option Not Working

I am in need of any help available! Can not get fax option to work in DSC38. Have tried two new fax options. Just replaced power supply and harness. Nothing seems to work. All firmware has been updated.

Did you turn on the battery switch before installing the option? If you press the fax button on the control panel does the screen change to fax mode?
Does the printer not recognize the fax or does the fax just doesnt connect to line?

Fax will not pick up or send. Gestetner tech support now tells us to replace the IPU board.
