DSADD Computer Question

Hello all I'm now back in the UK having had a bad experience at Koenig something for another post maybe.

Anyway I am following the MS Press 70-290 self paced training. When I try to add computers with the DSADD command I keep getting "a referral was returned from the server"

What does this mean and how can I resolve it.

This is a line from the bat file I created

DSadd computer ?CN=computer2,OU=marketing,DC=emond,DC=local? -desc ?training computer? -loc ?Front Office?

Try:
DSadd computer "CN=computer2,OU=marketing,DC=emond,DC=local" -desc "training computer" -loc "Front Office"

From the error message, it sounds like either the domain or OU don't exist on the Domain Controller you're trying to add the computer to.

So next question why did they say to use question marks instead of quotation marks.

Edie, can I ask what the experience with Koenig was please? Failing that can you please start a new thread on the subject?

I am not using Koenig now but would still like to hear what your experiences were.

Glad it worked. Did it say to use question marks in the 70-290 book? I don't have it at arm's length right now.

Yeh it did, I thought it was a bit strange but its working now and thats the main thing.
