Hi everyone,
Wondering if someone with experience of DS8000's can offer some advice.
We have a DS8000 and have added a couple of disk trays (arrays). We have found these and created a rank for each array, we have then created an extent pool for each rank and a volume for each extent pool.

We would now like to add these volumes to an existing volume group, so they are published to an SVC, but cannot for the life of us, see how we add them to the existing volume group.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Many Thanks in advance.

In DS8000 storage manager, when you create a volume, you can specify which volumegroup(s) it should be created in.

Otherwise (if you already created the volumes without specifying any volume group - orphan volumes) go to volume groups, list all, checkmark the volume group, choose Properties (I think) and click Go, then go through all the screens (just click Next) and at the end you can choose which volumes are to be member of that group, just check the volumes you want added and LEAVE the checkmarks with the volumes already in the group or you'll remove them from the group and the server!). Then at the end click Finish.

This is all from memory, so I may have got it wrong...

Just make sure you know what you're doing and double-check your actions before hitting Finish...
