Hi folks. I guess I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance. We're having a rationalisation of our IP addressing ,which will mean the a p650 and attached DS4300 (ex FastT600) will need their adresses changed. There will be three changes in all, the DS4300 having two controllers.

Has anyone any experience of this, and if so, can they offer any pointers as to possible gotchas? Obviously, the Oracle databases on the machine will be closed (and backed up!) whilst we do the change. Any and all input appreciated.

I want to be good, is that not enough?

Ken,

I did this once. You have to have Storage Client to connect to that controller on your pc / laptop. When you connect the Storage SubSystem < double click>, you will see at the right side there are two controllers ( Ctrl A and Ctrl B).

Put the mouse pointer on one controller, select, right-click, select <change> and then <network configuration>. One window will appear where you can add new IP address, Subnet Mask and Gateway information. Do that for other controller too.

And at the AIX server side, its --> smitty chinet + Choose the interface and hit enter. And finally make the changes of IP at the server side.

In case of any doubt, let me know.

Thanks.
Sam

Sam, thank you, much appreciated. It'll be a couple of weeks before we go ahead with this, but I'll report back on completion. In the interim, have a star for the info!
