Hey Guys,

I have an IP500V2 and it will not sync up with an expansion module. We had a tech who didn't know better who swapped out the VCM card for another card. After placing the VCM card back in the unit everything works fine except it cannot detect expansion modules.
What I have tried:
power down both module and base unit. Power up module first then power up base unit.
Tried a different expansion module
wiped configuration
formatted and reformatted SD card
tried different expansion ports on the base unit
Yes I'm using the correct Avaya provided cable

It still won't detect it. Any ideas guys?

Thanks,

set the file server to the SD card in case you need to upgrade the expansion?
what release are you using? I doubt that it is too old for the unit if there was one in before but hey it is worth a question.

Westi has a good plan.

We also ran into an issue with a customer who had upgraded to R9.1 using the "Small Site Upgrade License" for up to 32 extensions, but now were expanding their office. One of our techs tried everything under the sun to get the expansion to be recognized. I noticed in System Status that the expansion module field said unlicensed rather than Blank.

We had to sell the Large site upgrade license and added it in and a simple reboot got everything working.

What version?

DS30B only works on 9.0 and above

Is the module blinking green before powering on the control unit or is it blinking red or what exactly is it doing? If it is blinking green this means it is ready to try to talk to the control unit. If it blinks red at all there is some kind of error. Orange/yellow means it is upgrading. If it is red there is a FAQ on the site about deleting firmware and then redownloading it from control unit or manager.

Also as stated previously a small upgrade license would not let you use the module. I have actually seen where it was working with a small upgrade license, a card was replaced, and then the module stopped working. Also make sure the system is on 9.0 or higher. If it is on 8.1 see below.

There is actually a patch to get the DS30B/DS16B to work on R8.1 but I have never actually used it.

You need manager 8.1(79) and a critical patch. Here is a link for that patch
