If a multiline user also needs a cordless extension (car sales)what are my options with VM?
I have several ideas but none of them seem to fit all my criteria.
What I would like is to have calls ring the multiline and if not answered go to the cordless. If the cordless isnt answered the caller should go to a mailbox, preferrably the multilines box. If the multiline was busy the caller should go the mailbox not to the cordless. I think I could program the cordless as a message center key which would be the multilines extension number rather than its actual extension. Callers would ring both phones and go to VM. What if the multiline is busy? I dont want the cordless to ring.
I know that there is a new digital cordless but I dont see how that solves my problem. I need a desk phone as well.
What about forwarding? It seems I could forward the multiline to the cordless (forward no answer)and forward the cordless to VM but the DS1000 seems to put callers in the destination mailbox not the originally called ext. I need this call to go to the multilines mailbox.
Can I assign call coverage key to an analog? dont think so. This would solve my problem. I see now that I could assign call coverage of the multiline to a digital cordless but this gets expensive having a digital cordless for everyone. Any advice?
