I have an S8700 running ACM 1.3.1 software. I have an EPN installed 11/03, running on Microwave T-1 link's. These links are showing Bipolar errors consistantly (200-242) every 15 minutes on the li mea ds1-f log ######. Our Microwave supplier, myself and a Microwave tech tested the links today, looping back from T-1 extender's, CSU/DSU's, Radio Tower, EPN end with no errors. We tested using 1 in 7, Quasi, 1's, etc. with no errors. All equipment hardware in the EPN & S8700 have been replaced with new equipment that was tested in Denver for a week and still receiving the same constant Bipolar errors. Avaya is stumped and keep saying it is the Microwave. With my determination, I am having them expedite it to Tier 4.

Is there anyone out there that has experienced anything like this???

Has the syn plan been set up correctly? Any time the syn is not correct then t-1 s will always have errors.

is there errors intermittently or always?
were there errors on the definity, when there were no errors on the microwave link?
is there any DS1 monitoring facility over hte micrwave?

Bipolar errors are typically caused by equipment the near end, e.g. on a local cable such as a NTM receiver, cable, channel service unit (CSU) and network termination (NT) transmitters. Any repeater or multiplexer on the path will not relay these errors to the next cable segment.
Possible causes for errors include:

Line code configuration mismatches

Hardware malfunction

Loose or disconnected shield ground wires

Bridge taps

Timing problems

Electrical interference

There is not a Sync set-up per say. It is set up as a fiber link:
Bit rate: 1.544
Fac.startup code: 11101000
Framing: b8zs
Framing mode: esf
DS1CONV-1 line comp: 1
DS1CONV-2 line comp: 1
Endpoint 1 board type: sni
Endpoint 2 board type: ei

The errors are constant. After the errors reach the max, the links reset and start all over again. There are no errors on the microwave link.

The testing ran clean from the CSU as well as the repeaters. Cross Connects were checked and re-checked. Cable tests fine.

Has the microwave provider confirmed that they can support b8zs/esf? I've worked with several microwave installations that cannot (in fact, we had to do d3/ami, not d4/ami). If it is new equipment, then it is probably fine.

The microwave is new and yes, it supports T-1. Strange thing happened which I should have mentioned before: When this EPN was installed (before it was a stand alone VS)one of the links did work for several months. It was running on a version 9 DS1 card. The second link never worked from day one. Since the Tier-3 person assigned to this problem, he has replaced all cables, DS1 cards (they are now version 11), and CSU's with equipment that was tested in Denver. Since then, BOTH links quit working. Kinda strange don't you think??

Sounds like "'excessive capacitance between the ear plates" by Avaya Tier 3.
When I was talking about sync, I was talking about the pbx sync. Like in "status syn". If the pbx is synching on the tone board, then u will always have errors. U can take a look at syn, but I don't think that is where your problem is. I would suggest a spectrum analyzer onsite to see if there is a dsl with a loose ground. And checking to see if everything has a zero volts to common ground.
