Can anyone tell me if you can connect this to a fiber 0X16 module?
The reason why is I am trying to save the customer money and not use the MCK extenders.
They have another facility down the street and they only need 3 extensions at this facility.

device is used to convert digital port to fiber for newer nams on older ksu...since nortel will not support off premise extensions i would venture to say nope and your answer is iether a fiber extender or a mck over ip or t1

no, you can't do this.

"DS-30" is Nortel's proprietary data stream that is used for Norstars and BCM's.
You can have 16 stations on 1 multiplexed DS-30 stream.
A fiber NAM can use a full DS-30 stream too. This is how a NAM has the capability of expanding to 16 channels.

What the DS-30 adaptor does is it allows you to take up to 8 unused stations from a copper NAM and it multiplexes the b1 and b2 channels of each station into 1 DS-30 stream.

Then it has a fiber port that you can use to connect to a fiber NAM.

That's probably more than you ever wanted to know, but after I learned this, so many things began to make sense about the Norstar's technology.
