Question.

We have a BCM system that intermittently drops calls when they are placed on hold. The previous Norstar system did this also. Could this be an internal wiring problem or does the BCM send a signal to the CO to request the line to be held? The phone company states that it is our phone system. After installing the new BCM(we needed an upgrade anyway) it still drops calls. Doesn't matter if the weather is dry or wet outside.

Thanks,

Jeff W

what type trunks are you using? T1 or copper. try setting disconnect supervision to no.

disconnect supervision does NOT disconnect a held call.
but like jdavid99 said it is good to eliminate that option

If it happened on the norstar and on the new BCM ...then it is most likely something outside.
Are u reusing the LS/DS or CLID cards of the norstar- if so try changing those.
Does it happen every time someone is put on hold - ic and og?
Is the CO disconnecting the call because of something?

What version of BCM?

I have this problem on a 3.5 and there was a patch for it.

What type of line card BRIM DTM or GATM?

Does it happen on every call?

Does it happen on every extension?

Does it happen on every line?

What is the held line reminder timer set to?

Could it be user error?

Have you had the BCM monitor on the system and watched the call?

Have you tried installing the CDR client wrapper and keep an eye on the calls over a period?

Sorry for all the questions but that is the process I would be going through.

Marshall

Have you checked that all trunks have the TIP and RING set the same, I've seen this cause trunks to drop.
