hello all - is it possible to create drop down box where the user can pick from list but ALSO be able to type in answer? I need the user to elaborate if they pick one of the choices.

It may not be quite as fluid a process as you might like, but Data Validation dropdowns can accomplish your request if you uncheck the box for "Show error alert after invalid data is entered" in the Error Alert tab of the Data Validation menu item.

In the Settings tab, you create the dropdown by selecting "List" in the Allow field and entering a cell range reference, named range or comma separated text in the Source field.

Turning off the show error alert did it - they can pick from list then double click next to choice and type. Perfect - as usual, experts at Tek-Tips come thru!!!
