When on service calls on c.o. line problems you need to i.d. various lines that quite often are not labeled let alone on any n.i./d-mark.
Years back their were various #'s that you could dial to "drop wire id" the line that you were on.
Most of these don't work any more.Other than calling your cell and using clid does any one have a list of #'s to drop wire id lines???(clec's have ther own #)
Also does any one have any method to find a customers clec-(when they don't know)quite often the customer contact may not even know who they are using as their local provider

Do a search on this very forum - a long thread with multiple numbers will be found.

Try a google on ANI number or ANAC number

If you call the customer service number for most of the national long distance carriers, the first thing you hear is "we see you are calling from XXX-XXX-XXXX. If this is the number you are calling about, press 1........"

And, if you call regular old 611, enter the customer's number in question, if it is handled by a CLEC they will tell you which CLEC and give you their repair service number. OR, some CLECs actually receive 611 repair calls.

in your area 711 or 311 may still work

One way to tell who is the local provider is to dial a "0" and the name of the local service provider should be announced before the operator answers the call.

For long distance verification "00" or 1-700-555-4141 will give you the name of the LD provider. In many (but not all) cases the CLEC will act as both the local and LD provider.

JOHN 311 IS NOW GOVERNMENT INFORMATION AND 711 IS ACCESS TO TELECOMMUNICATION RELAY SERVICES, THEY ALREADY BEEN IMPLEMENTED DOWN HERE IN MIAMI

Zero is the best way to do it.

"0" the operator is working for your CLEC.

In many areas The operator will not give the calling number.

I believe what you are looking for is a LEC CLECs Automatic number announcement circuit or ANAC
Try this number as it has worked all around the country for me. 1-800-223-1104 Password 911306

Also there is some good info on this subject at

I normally use (800)444-4444, which is MCI. There's been others, but that seems to work just about everywhere. Only gives you the number, doesn't tell you what the carrier is, tho; so it's only half an answer.
