Hi, I'm running Accpac 6.
Is there any functionality behind the drop-ship field or is it just a field to capture information?

I was thinking of using this field to capture goods in transit locations, i.e. we purchase an item from a supplier and the item is 1st receipted into a goods in transit location, which can be a warehouse in a port, and then finally receipted into the actual store location.

It seems like however, when receipting the PO, the goods go into the location specified for the line item.
The next step, receipting it from the line item location into the drop shipment lcoation seems to be missing - or am I missing something here?

There is no logic behind drop ship, it simply allows you to enter an address.
Use an IC location for GIT, receive into GIT and then do an IC transfer from GIT to your inventory location.
We do that at a couple of sites, items are received into a QC location and inspected before being transferred into inventory.

Thanks, though I need it a bit more sophisticated than that.

For example do I need to keep the PO information the item was ordered under and possible an optional field from the line detail until it is receipted in the final location.
As soon as it is receipted into IC, PO information is removed from the item I I do not know what project the item was ordered for. (do not use PJC)

That's something you will need to figure out to fit your needs. As you say there is no tracking once the items hit IC.
