Hi Everyone,

I have tried everything to "uncheck" the checkbox under control panel --> system properties --> advanced --> use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop. I use the checkbox in that menu mentioned above and nothing happens -- the drop shadows stay --> what the heck is going on? Made sure active desktop was not enabled (it think) made sure no web content was on my desktop etc... Any ideas?

Maybe you can look at the reverse of these suggestions?

Desktop icons and icon labels may not display background transparency or the drop shadow effect in Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.
