Hi,

Here's another newbie questions.

I applied a drop shadow to a box, but now an element that is in another layer looks darker (it's not under the shadow). It used to be bright green, now it's not as bright...

I've tried moving it to another layer, changing preview options. I even exported the file into a pdf to see if it really is changing the color, and it is!

As soon as I remove the drop shadow, the object goes back to the original color.

Any ideas?

I think I figured it out.

My oiriginal green is RGB, and when adding the drop shadow it makes it into CMYK.

All your graphics to have transparency applied or transparency applied over should be the same color model: CMYK. Spot color transparency can also be an issue over CMYK.
