how do i create an HTML drop-down lists that will allow you to type and as you type you get closer to the target value.
The standard html drop down list only allow you to type the first letter to match it to the list.

Would like:
Such as: TOM
TED

So as i type TE it will point me to TED instead of another word that begin in E. The data and list of available value is store in a table.

Please advised if this is doable in a web environment?

Do you mean like a windows ComboBox control? If so your best bet will be client-side javascript.

It's certainly doable with Javascript. There may be some pre-written ones around... I haven't looked.

You might want to consider that this kind of solution would only work if Javascript was enabled - so you'd need to be wary of offering (at least) functional support for users without Javascript (mobile users, screen readers... and not missing the paranoid). Again... this is certainly possible.

Cheers,
Jeff
