Drives do not show up in Array

I'm trying to add some new Western Digital 4.3 GB SCSI drives to my array and they do not show up. We are using a PL 6000 server with the smart array 3100ES.

The drives spin up for a few seconds, then I get the yellow fail light. Nothing ever shows up in the array or in disk management.

I am brand new at this and don't know what incompatibilities might exist. The array has 2 4.3 GB drives on the C drive and 2 36 GB drives for the D drive.

Thanks for any leads on how to get these drives recognized.
