I want to move my Windows 8 primary drive off an SSD and onto a Raid array controlled by an M1015 Raid controller. Acronis have a disc cloning feature but cloning the SSD to the Raid array doesn't work; when I try to boot windows on the array I get boot errors. I thought this could be because the drivers are incompatible with the Raid array. Acronis confirmed this.
Acronis has a feature which will swap out the disk drivers when cloning a drive or restoring an image, but I need to provide the drivers for the Raid drive. I think I've found them:
I downloaded the exe containing the drivers, unzipped it. It contains folders for Windows 2008 and Windows 2012. Should I use the 2012 or 2008 drivers consindering my operating system is Windows 8?
The Windows 2012 drivers folder contains both a megasas2.inf and megasas2.sys file. Which of these is the actual driver? Aren't both file types drivers?
Acronis sees the Raid drive as a SCSI interface. Is this right? I thought SCSI was superseded by SAS?
