Hi I am ready to throw my puter from my window ))

I have just upgraded my PC to:

Abit An8 Ultra Motherboard
1024Gb of Corsair Value Ram
Athalon 64 3500+ (Venice)
200Gb SATA Hdd
6200 Turbo Cache PCI Express Graphics Card. (INNDO 3d)
Pioneer 110D Dual Layer Burner.

I am the kind of person that only installs what is required on my PC so I dont fill it with Crap.

I have installed roughly in this order

Windows XP Pro SP2
Latest NVidia NForce 4 drivers (This includes the Network / Firewall drivers and firewall software, that is built in to the AN8 motherboard)
Latest 6200 Driver from Nvida
MS Office 2003
Popstopper Pro
Adaware SE
Norton AV Pro 2005
AOL IM
YAHOO IM
MSN IM
Power DVD
EASY CD 7.5

Amongst a few other things.

BASICALLY the PC seems to build OK and run for a while eg a Day or SO

THE Suddenly it starts to BSOD with the error message:

"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" the file associate with this message is either "HTTP.SYS" or "NVTCP.SYS".

Once the BSODS start they it can BSOD 10 times in about 10-15 mins making the PC unusable.

I have run diags on the hardware for a long while without ANY errors showing.

I have rebulit it from scratch now about 20-25 times, missing out certain apps each time eg Norton AV etc etc

I have been battlling with this now for over 3 weeks.

Does anyone have ANY ideas or ANY suggestions. These would be most appreciated as I am totaly at the end of my teather.

Cheers

Simon

Sounds like a Driver issue or a RAM incompatibility/faulty....

I would also suggest you deinstall the nForce build in Firewall and it's drivers... and test that...

Is your Event Viewer telling you anything useful?

As it runs for a while, is it an overheating problem?

Hi All

I think I have SOLVED IT :) :) :) :) :)

And it looks like BigBadBen has to take all the plaudits.

Cheers BigBadBen!!

To be fair I had kinnda come to this conclusion on my own BUT seeing as BigBadBen suggested it, I tried it out.

What I did was to UNINSTALL the nForce build in Firewall and it's drivers. This then seemed to remove the nvtcp.sys

Since doing this my PC has not rebooted AT ALL. But I will make my final desicion by the weekend. Cos I have found with this particular fault, that I made a change and it fixed it for a day or two. Only to start rebooting again and then stop.

But SO far so good.

Thanks BigBad and to you all for taking time to respond

Simon

Glad to have helped...

it is possible that the OS has become instable, and it seems that you may be headed for a complete new intstall, leaving out the nVidia Firewall (here I would just install a third party Firewall like Kerio or ZoneAlarm, for example.)...
