I have a problem where I cannot get a mapped drive to retain it's password even though I have selected re-connect at login and have selected "connect using a different user name" and have populated the required details to login to the mapped drive which is to a Samba unix dir.

I would say that the mapped drive does retain the password but only when both the windows login and the samba login have the same password.

As soon as the windows password changes then I have to enter the Samba password when connecting to the mapped Samba drive.

Any assistance would be gratefully received as I'm going mad with this issue.

Cheers

Hi,

I had a similair problem. I made a drivemapping to a samba share on a linux server.
Everytime when I logon it asks for the password. The username is the same on Windows and Linux but the password is not so everytime it asks for the password.

It does work using a .bat file with the "net use" command in it:

net use x: \\linuxserver\sambashare password /USER:username

The only downside is that the password (the password for the linux user) is visible in the bat file.
