Ok well, I had the drives how I wanted them, C and D were my HDDs; E and F were my disc drives... but I bought some round IDE cabels to help reduce case-clutter, and now, even though I have my 2nd HDD plugged into the Primary IDE mobo slot (My 1st HDD is an SCSI), and my 5" drives plugged into the Secondary IDE slot on my mobo, my drives are now like this:

C: - Main HDD
D: - DVD ROM
E: - 2nd HDD
F: - DVD RW

How do I change it back to the way I had it before, without going back to those old, flat, heat-trapping cables? Or can I? I seem to remember finding a way, one time, on ME, to change what letters certain drives were assigned... Any help would be appreciated! I'll give as much info as I can to help, I'm just not sure what all you need to diagnose this right off-hand.

Very odd, I've never known ME to do such a thing where a cdrom is given a drive letter before a harddrive partition.

In the device manager, you can set the drive letters of the optical drives for next boot, by going into the properties of the drives. That might fix the harddrive labelling by not allowing the optical drives to take D:?

Well, I'm not on ME now, I just found that back when I was... I'm on XP now, and I can't find where to goto to change the labels in it....

On XP right click My Computer > left click Manage > left click Disk Management. Left click on the drives you want to change letter assignments and left click on Change drive letters and paths. You will need to change one drive to a temporary letter (X) to accomplish your goal.

It looks like you need to change (in order):
D to X
E to D
X to E

That should make your main HDD "C", 2nd HDD "D", DVD ROM "E", and DVD-RW "F".

Sorry... I am dyslexic! Right click My Computer > left click Manage > left click Disk Management > right click on Change drive letters and paths.

Ya, I figured out to right click on the drives, and I got it fixed. Thanks a ton man!
