Drive Image DOS boot with network

Just to explain what I'm trying to do;
Upgrade laptop hard disk from a 3Gb to a 4Gb (cannot get authorisation for a bigger one!)
1) boot with network drive.
2) backup C: to image on network.
3) upgrade hard disk in laptop, Old one is almost full!
4) boot with network drive
5) restore image from the network drive.
Started out as an easy task!
