Well, I don't know much about Compaq servers... and I bought a used Compaq Proliant 5000 with dual PPro, 512mb RAM and 4 9,1gb scsi drives.
However, it seems that the system config, smart-2 array config and drives partitions had been erased... and the SmartStart CD destroyed (so I don't have it). As a result, I have to run SCU from the floppies and it output the following error at startup (I think it's trying to "install" itself on the hard disk): "An error occurred while trying to access the fixed disk. Run the configuration utility to try and correct the error. If this does not correct the problem, your fixed disk may have a physical error." I can configure the whole system running SCU, except the drive array and the system partition.
Should I understand that not only 1, but 4 of my hard disk are dead? I don't think so. Does having only 4 hard disk instead of all slot occupied (5) change something? I hope not, eh.
Well, I think running drive array configuration utility would solve that problem. Is this utility available on a bootable floppy?
Thanks for any help
