OK first, I'm trying to learn how to use Access without any official training so please be gentle. I've created a bunch of 3D pie charts and have been asked to have each category drilled down by clicking the piece of pie. Would this called a sub report? I'm not sure where to start or what exactly I need so reading FAQs isn't really helping (usually does). If someone could steer me in the right direction it would be mucho appreciated!!

Thanks

Drilled down" to what? You want to see some data displayed, or a larger slice of the pie, etc.?

Always remember that you're unique. Just like everyone else.

I am not aware of any "drill-down" functionality in charts in Access.

Consider creating pivot tables/charts in Excel. These are fairly simple to create and can link directly to your Access table/query. You will have much greater functionality and you might be able to train your users to update their own charts and tables.

Following on with Duane's suggestion, set your Excel chart up as a Chart Sheet, and use the GetChartElements method to capture the SERIES Nbr and POINT Nbr, that the user clicks on, in the MouseDown event.

I'll give this a shot in Excel. Thanks. As to what am I drilling down? I have a defect table that has different groups(Machine, Operator, Process, Supplier). Under those groups there are reasons. So Machine has like 10 different reasons, Operator has like 15 different reasons etc... what I was trying to do was double click the pie for the group graph and have another chart pop up with all the reasons contained in that pie.

Cleas as mud?????

Thanks for the tip I'll post back or start another thread with any questions.

Thanks again.

I started looking into this then realized the reports I created in Access are based on selections in a form. I may try using Sequel Reports not sure how to use those but our IT guy said he could lend a hand. Is this an avenue I don't wan to go down ????

Excel pivot tables and charts have many methods for filtering out records. I would continue to explore their usage. I'm not sure what you mean by "Sequel Reports". Perhaps your IT guy was referring to SQL Report Services
