Is it possible to create a summary value based on a formula so that I can use the drill down feature of a chart?

I understand the example report shipped with version 8 (world sales report) the field they use in the total sales from the DB, the field I use is complex and has to be a formula.

Any thoughts

arh: Yes you can use formula fields as the basis of a summary - what are you trying to achieve? David C. Monks

David I hope you remember me, we have met through Crystal info at a rather large car makers in east anglia.

Anyway I have a report with three levels of drill down and I want to create a graph at each level and drill through that. However when I create the graph it will not let me drill down through it. I think you need to create a summary field first before it allows you to get to the advanced button on the data tab of the chart wizard, using the advanced chart allows drill down to work. I am using a three formula's to get my totals.

Also any idea where I can find the object model so I can see all the methords and properties when I use Active server pages to create an instance of the veiwer. I want to control the zoom setting in the browser at run time.

arh: Hi - are you still with our fast friends?

The trick to your drill down graphs is to ensure that you use the group graph option - for this you MUST have summary fields to use to provide the values and the graphs will be based upon the members of the group at that level. Each graph once placed in the group header will allow drill down to reveal the next graph in the next group header and so on. If you want them to appear on separate pages set New Page After on for each group header.

The object model for the Report Design Component for v8 can be found in the Developer Help file installed at ..\program files\seagate software\crystal reports\developer\help

The problem I have is that the summary field I'm using is a formula (one of three to maintain a running total) this formula is not available in the group graph option, in fact this option is greyed out until I create a summary field. How do I base the graph (using the graph group option) on a formula I have written?

Thanks

As for our friends I left them in the slow lane eight months ago
