Hi,
I have a crystal report that only has text in the top group header when you click on this it does not drill down. However if you click on a field that you can't see that is a numberic field the drill down works I have noticed this before as a problem but never picked up on it as there were allways numbers click.

Is there anyway I can drill down when double clicking on text. This is when users are viewing the reports online not in crystal itself.

Cheers,

Rachel.

This may not be the best way but it should work, assueming that the number field is suppressed. Drag the number field so it is on top of the text field. Increase the size of the field as necessary. The user will still see the text but really be drilling down on the number.

Good luck!

Rachel:

You can double click on fields that are suppressed in the CR Designer, but once you view it using ActiveX, you won't have access to those fields. You can get around your problem by doing the following:

1. Create a formula field and call it "text"
2. In the formula editor, add your text that you want to display, and surround it with quotes.
3. Save and Close the formula editor
4. Place the formula in the group header

When formulas are placed in groupings, CR allows them to be drilled on, while text objects are not.

Thanks it has worked I did think about doing it that way I just wondered if it was the best way or there was another way. It's worked so that's good. Thanks again x
