Hi,

I have created a drill down report which works very well.

However to distribute it I export it to .pdf. Then though I lose the drill down functionality.

How can I resolve this???

Is it possible to drill down or use links in .pdf?

Many thanks in advance

Steven

The export to PDF doesn't support drill downs defined by Crystal.

I consider PDF a horrible export as it's very difficult for users to do anything with the data other than view it or print it unless they have distiller or another utility.

Consider distributing as an .rpt to maintain the drill down, otherwise I'd suggest something more useful such as Excel (though formatting it is trickier).

Steven,

Replace your drill downs with links, and these translate to .pdf.

Thanks Naith......this sounds very promising.....but how would I do that?

Assuming you're on CR8 or better, if you right click your field, and select the hyperlink tab, you can activate that field to open another file or website when clicked upon.

Save a copy of your report at it's lowest level in your chosen format (i.e. with the drill down open), and point the hyperlink at this file, then both CR and Adobe Acrobat will open this file when the field is clicked.
