Hello

Is anyone else out there using learningsite to create e-learning? If so do you know of any on line resources to help ?

I am trying to create a simple typing test with learning site - but not having much luck

Cheers

Simon

I am curious if you have found any resources. I am in a similar situation right now, attempting to create my first course. Have the Dreamweaver MX E-learning Toolkit book, but that is only helpful when everything works as it should. Be awful nice to have fellow learningsite users to discuss problems with.

Maybe we should set up a learningsite forum ??? Not sure how you do it, but i'm sure there are others in our position.

I have bought a book :
Using Dreamweaver to Create e-learning
Garin Hess
Steven Hancock
ISBN : 0-9715080-0-3

It takes you through all the basic stuff, only problem is it seems to end rather abruptly.

If you have any specific questions, let me know and i'll see if I can help. Also the guys in the dreamweaver MX forum are always helpful.

good luck

By the end of the day, I gave up on learningsite, since it seems to only allow students in if the administrator has issued user names and passwords, and since the best solution it could come up with for having Previous and Next buttons on the first and last pages (respectively) was to bring up a screen saying "You are on the first [or last] page." Absolutely silly. It's no error of the user's that there's a previous or next button where there shouldn't be.

So I'm diving deeper and have downloaded MySQL and PHP and will attempt to set up my own login system that allows any user to come to the course, register with a user name and password of choice, and get in. All nicely automated. The course is going to be free and open to anyone, so I want as little maintenance effort on my part as possible.

I have one week to turn something in for my class, so I'm thinking I'm insane for going this route. But if I stick to my basic interface ideals, I'll have a better product that will be nice advertising for what I can do, even though I may earn some nice gray hairs and make co-workers and friends think I've been possessed by a very irritable demon for a week.

If you've got solutions for my main two complaints there, please let me know!

Thank you!

Hi

I know what you mean about the registration. I am currently working on a self registration bit, but will be a few more days till it works ! I know at least it can be done !

You can switch off the alerts for the next page and previous page and send them straight to other pages. This is under the navigation tab in the site options.

I hope you don't go too insane !
