I have been using one webhost for all my web site clients for a while and is all good but recently any new sites I set up run into problems with upload through dreamweaver 8. New folders cannot be created if required - I can upload with WSFTP or similar and folders will be created but as it is neater to do it through Dreamweaver I would like to solve this.

I have contacted the webhost and they cannot find any problem - they think it is a Dreamweaver problem...

This is the error I get when I try to upload a file whose folder does not exist on the server "error occurred - Unable to create remote folder foldername. Access Denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem."

Also Dreamweaver puts a file on the server called temp2342.htm… This file will be uploaded automatically if I delete the file through another FTP program. is this linked to the previous issue?

I have tuned off view with temp file in Preferences.

Sites I have set up earlier do not exhibit either of these problems… I have duplicated a site that works and updated the FTP details and the problem happens again with the new site?? (which does makes me think it is a change in the way things are now set up on the host server)

If anyone could offer some insight that would be great!

Hi Darryn

thanks - have just done a read around and I have learnt that permissions are only applicable to UNIX servers - the one I am using is Windows which I understand does not need any permissions set???

I can view the permissions for folders and the public html folder permissions are noted as drwxr-x--- this, from what I have learnt seems correct...

with thanks
Greer
