I recently upgraded from a Windows 98 computer with Autocad Release 14 to a Windows 2000 computer with both Release 14 and 2002 installed on it. After I copied my Release 14 drawings to both of these versions of Autocad I am no longer able to view the drawing previews when I enter the Select File dialog. This occurs now in both R14 and 2002. I figure this is some kind of Windows problems but haven't a clue as to what it is. Any ideas or suggestions?

I had the same problem when I went from cad14 with win98 to cad2002 with win professional. I wanted to be able to use cad 14 too so I reloaded that program on my computer as well. There seemed to be a lot of conflicts between the two programs, not just the preview. The only solution I found was to unload both cad14 and 2002. Then reload just 2002. Everything worked after that, but of couse I no longer have cad14.

I don't know if there is another solution, but I havn't needed to use cad14 sence.

Hi,

I have a question or two! Why do you want AutoCAD14 for if you've got the updated 2002?
Is there something in R14 that you need - maybe a command that is now obselete or you prefer the way it looks and interacts?

Sorry for the questions but I was just interested as 2002 has all that 14 has and 10x more.

Cheers,

I agree, 2002 has all of and more than R14. However there are also some significant differences between the two (plotting for instance) and I am not able to do a complete shutdown of R14 and change over to 2002 without doing some testing first.
