Hi All,

I am attempting to devise a costing program for garages, Sheds, Roofing, Guttering etc and am trying to find a way to allow the user to either draw in the design of the Shed/Garage etc or be able to scan in a drawing so as to work out the area and thus the cost of the shed/garage.

I have a fair bit of experince in VB and I was hoping to be able to do it within this environment. Are there any Add-Ins available that anyone know of or any other solution/ideas that people may have.

Any ideas wouold be greatly appreciated. Matt Smith

if you find out anything, let us know here, please. I would like to know this also. Thanks.

If this is a one-off consultancy project for a client I'd suggest you get your hands on a copy of Visio and use it as an embedded component. Visio has an incredibly rich and sophisticated object model and possibly there are stencils available for drawing this sort of stuff: see You can also develop your own stencils. It's not cheap, however, and each user will need a license.

Thanks Muesli,

I will give it a try. It is only a one off consultancy project but if it goes well I may attempt to sell it. At the moment it is for my Dad's business.

Thanks once again. Matt Smith

You can order a 30-day evaluation of Visio, I ntoice. this should tell you whether it'll do the job!
