draw a graph in Word 2000

I want to be able to insert (in Word) a picture which would be a graph of a function (like: f(x)=2x-3) on x&y axes.

When I click on something (what?) I would be prompted for details on the scales for the x,y axes and the function . The function would then be graphed, and I would be able INSERT the graph(picture?) in my word document.

Could someone outline the steps to get this done. I've been programming many years in VB, so I just need the steps to get going.

I'm not very sure about this, but I don't think that Word is well suited to making graphs. If I had to do this I would call Excel from Word if I had to be in Word, let Excel perform its graphing automatically, which is no problem, and do a copy and paste routine back to Word.

The graph that I need does not exist. I want to create it. Specifically, there is no graph that shows 4 quadrants and an x and y axis. Anyhow, I have created an ActiveX control that makes the graph that I want. On the Control are textboxes that allow input for the scales on the axes. My problem now is how to get this ActiveX control to work with winword.

When I click on the Winword Toolbar: View, Toobars, Control ToolBox, my ActiveX does not appear.On the toolbar I click on the last icon , More Controls, at the bottom of the list is "register custom Control". I browse for my control and open it. However, I still cannot find my control on the toolbar or in the list.

How can I get my control to show?

Controls are normally inserted with INSERT ---> OBJECT
