I'm using a Linksys54g v2.0 with Alchemy-pre. The router worked perfectly with Satori firmware for 6 months. My signal strength was consistantly "excellant" and speed was 54Mb on both a notebook with Intel 2200G card and a desktop with a BuffaloTech PCI card.
After upgrading the firmware, My signal strengh and speed on both computers has dropped significantly. Any reason why?
All router settings are the same. (I think). This setup is my home network. The router is in the basement, my desktop and laptop are on the first floor almost directly above the router. There are no obstructions except for the floor (wood).
I prefer to keep the alchemy firmware since the newer 2.2 routers use it and I support several. I've had no issues with those.
I have both antennas set to "auto" at present and xmit power at 56.
As I'm typing this my speed is down to 12Mbps. Any ideas appreciated.
