Hi!
In an application I use drag/drop to move buttons from one shape into another.
This way I create a way to let my users compose custom lay-out of labels.
Up to now I used the normal way of dragging resulting in showing the button's "dotted-outlines" involved with the mousepointer somewhere in the middle of that "dotted-outline" while dragging.
Out of the blue, after a user migrated from XP to win 8.1 the "dotted-outline" was not anylonger around the mousepointer but some cm. above it.
Any idea how to deal with such?
On my win 8.1 laptop I don't see this behavior.

TIA

Hi Mike,

Thanks for yr advice. I will give it a try but as I have to check with my user it will take some time to see the result.

Mike,
I almost never used drag/drop before so for my info:
Is it normal-behavior that the 'shape' follows the mouse pointer with kind of delay?
-Bart

I'd say it is normal. You can try OLE Drag & Drop and VFP native Drag&Drop in the samples app and see how it behaves.

Some of the sluggish drag behaviour is also due to aero style, since vista the command window drags rather slow, though that also is back to normal since hardware got much better since 2007.

Bye, Olaf.

Mike,
Currently it's the old way as you described.
OLE drag/drop is in the samples?
I'll dig in than.
-Bart

Bart, I'd always recommend using the newer OLE-style drag and drop where possible, that is, the properties and methods beginning OLEDrag and OLEDrop. In this case, you will have to decide for yourself whether it is worth the effort of changing over from the old style.

Mike
