I have one user, that no matter what attachment he attempts to drag & drop from the GroupWise (5.5.4) GUI to the desktop generates the MFC42.DLL error. Actually, about 4 in a row pop up.

GroupWise is automatically closed. The item is on the desktop, he just needs to restart GroupWise each time. Right-clicking the attachment from within GroupWise, and saving it to the desktop generates no errors. Nor, does File-->Save. I tried a client re-install, and still same errors.

Looking up the file, the user has a copy of this file in different directories and different versions. Should I replace all of them with the most recent one? If so, will I be opening another can or worms and have other programs start crapping out?

Thanks in advance!

You should only have one version of MFC42.DLL, in the system folder. Get rid of the others, rename the one in the system folder and replace with the one in the system folder of your GW 554 distribution directory.
