I have a Norstar 8x24 with DR5 with DS. We currently are using a Flash VM. We want to upgrade to a Call Pilot for the added features. Will the Call Pilot work with DR5/DS software?

Thanks all!

There are alot of voicemails that work now on systems that have older software and that are working fine now, heck I have customer using answering machines on digital station ports- but eventually it will stop working and at that point the system will have to be replaced.

The answer is NO it is not compatible.

I RECENTLY INSTALLED A CALL PILOT 100 ON A 6X16 DR5 DS AND IT IS WORKING GREAT. THE AUTO ATT WORKS AS WELL AS THE CCR. WE HAVE SOME MAIL BOXES SET FOR CALL SCREENING AND IT WORKS FINE. THE RECORD FEARTURE WORKS ALSO.

i think the issue of compatibility and what nortel supports are a real issue. even though it works, when you get itas on the phone they really dont want to hear that it works they dont care that it was working they have said to me we cant help you.. i had a old 2.0.4l startalk on a 1.1 mics and it was doing some real strange shit"was sold whem r1t1 was out was shipped on next release" intermittently but real quirky ...itas said can not help ya ...said yes it works and yes it will do some weird stuff and no we do not support it.So i am real supprised at what some of you guys get working but what happens to you if it goes a little south on ya.Really a vendor question.

Pat,
Yeah, but think of the fun we're having! Toys, Toys, Toys!

And besides, who'ld really believe everything Nortel tells you anyway? That'ld be like still hanging on to the idea that income tax is still a temporary measure to pay for the Great War!

Cheers

no your right but i am stuck with that issue ..may be thats why we dont sell anything.

Pat, and Arr, you guys are both right. It really ticks me off too when I see non-Nortel voicemail systems working fine on a Norstar platform without compatability issues. Ugh.
At Nortel, some compatability testing was only done on software releases that were curently active, and they didn't go back to the old platforms to even see what would happen. I believe that in a lot of cases, things will work just fine, but has not been verified. In other cases, there are known problems that nobody at Nortel has any good documentation on. Guess I should shut up. I feel your pain. I shouldn't get started on this issue!!!!!!
Did MarvO say that?

I wonder if anyone read our wish list that Curly sent in for us. Perhaps there's a Nortel rep lurking on this forum who just laughs and takes notes on how to increase proffits. Imagine if ITAS was as dynamic to use as this forum. Now that would increase profits like crazy. Can you see a no fuss tech support at the manufacturer level responding the way we do? Why everybody would buy Norstar just to get support. Hell with all the other systems.

Rant over
cheers
ARR RRRGGGGGHHHGHGHGHGGHHHHH!

yup i realized that but i dont think they even look to see what is really wrong...the 2 or 3 itas engineers are to overwelmed to be proactive should have stayed on 1a2 key and japanese stuff.... ha ha ha ha ha
