DR5 VS DR5.1, conflicting opinions

As I attempt to match up my old mod 8x24 DS with "DR5" nt5b24ch-93 version 30muj20 to a startalk flash version 1.7 I am told it will work by one person.
Then I am told I need a minumum of DR5.1 software by another.

I looked through the compatability charts but can not decipher the cartridge number to the version, (SP codes-MU= M05, L11, L07, ETC

I have found nt5k24dk DR5.1 - v12.10, will this work with the star talk flash version 1.7.

1.7 will work on all MICS and CICS KSU's up to 3.0
1.7 will work on all 8X24 DR5 and Dr 5.1

Is it worth upgrading to DR5.1, any benefits for the old beast?

And how do you figure out the SP code off of just the cartridge numbers.

As for benefits you could upgrade the vmail from 1.7 to 2.0 one day without issue or install the newer Call Pilot.
