DR5 battery replacement

Has anyone tried to replace the internal batteries in a DR5? Our systeem is several years and out of warranty. Be we spring for a new DR5 moddule, I thought I would try to replace those batteries.

The "battery" on the 824 cabinet is soldered in. According to Nortel if you are loosing memory on anything beyond DR3 it is in the memory module. You can try to replace that one but again it is a soldered in supercap not a battery. Also if you are looiing for the cap and have the ability to de-solder and re-solder then you can get it from

We carry these, and as Richard stated they solder on the board inside the software cartridge. There are 2 memory caps inside the 824 cartridge.
