One of my sites had a major melt-down in the form of all three servers running at 100% utilisation at seemingly random times of the day. We could callall or some instances of any MS Office 2000 app and it would eventually run at a more sedate speed...until the next day.
We eventually tracked the problem to a combination of dodgy printer drivers, MS Office 2000 apps stopping and Dr. Watson. What seems to happen is that Dr. Watson starts a memory dump (depending on hows its configured) when an application stops and if this happens to more than one user simultaneously then the server freaks out!
This was a known problem with MetaFrame 1.8 and NT4-SP4 however after disabling Dr. Watson we have had no problems since so I believe this is still a problem in the MetaFrame 1.8-SP2 and Windows 2000 environment. Microsoft and Citrix are none the wiser so I hope this helps ya one day.
For information regarding disabling Dr. Watson see:
and search on "Eliminate Dr. Watson". By the way this is a good site for FAQs etc... ;-)
