DR Recovery w/NetBackup at Hotsite

Does anyone have any experience in taking production NetBackup tapes and recovering on dissimilar equipment? This would include SAN,Tape Libraries, and the servers also would be differnt models than the production environment.

Is it possible to use backups created by NetBackup, bypass the NetBackup Master and Tape Library by mounting the tape directly to a standalone server with tape drive?
