Dpmw32 Error - Cannot Login to Network

My computer froze when I stepped away to do some work elsewhere and I had to reboot it very ungracefully. When I brought it back up, it wouldn't log onto the network. I've got the latest Novell Client on my machine (I think it's 3.03 or something like that) and when I try to log on, I get this annoying Dpmw32 error that won't close or go away once it pops up on my screen. I can do other stuff, it doesn't freeze my Win95, but it won't go into the background either. I read on another board somewhere that it is related to Netware Print Services and that disabling that will make the message go away. However, I still have 2 questions.

First, will disabling Print Services enable me to log in or could that be another problem?

Secondly, the main network printer is dead. It had a runaway CPU problem and no one is making parts for it anymore. In an effort to get a printer to the 3 stations that used it most, I hooked up an HP920 to one workstation, then enabled Print & File Sharing on that PC (named Billing2). I went to the other 2 stations and installed the printer software, then enabled the sharing so that the computers look for Billing2 computer when they go to print. If I disable Print Services, will that affect the ability of these 3 computers to use that printer?

Thanks for your help!

As far as disabling NDPS, go into Control Panel/Networks icon. Highlight Novel Distributed Printing and choose DELETE. Then reboot. That should remove NDPS.

Good Luck.

The latest client for Windows 95/98 is v3.32. Have you tried reinstalling the client? -----------------------------------------------------

Looking at the Novell site, I don't see a plain Novell 3.32 client listed to download. Every time I try and check the properties on my Novell client, my computer freezes. Can someone give me a specific file name to look for?

Also, salserocita, I appreciate you telling me how to remove NDPS, but that wasn't my question. My question is, will removing it affect my ability to print to the printer I set my computer and the other 2 workstations on? My computer is not the one the printer is hooked directly up to. It's one of the "networked" ones.

Thanks, again. Still not having much luck.

Goto to the following to download Client 3.32:

If I understand you correctly, since you currently have your Printer shared via Peer-to-Peer (I'm assuming Microsoft File and Printer Sharing), removing NDPS should not effect you being able to logon to a NetWare Server, or keep you from printing to the shared printer.

Good Luck.

Cool. Thanks.

Here I thought I was fixed, and today, for some reason, while I could log into the network, I couldn't print. It was like I lost my printer connection. So, anyway, I went back to the website and went into the Product Downloads instead of the upgrades (like I should have in the first place. DOH!) and found 3.32. Went to do a custom install and found some wonderful user admin console tools included!!!

This version is great! I love it! Thanks for recommending it, TL. And thanks for your help too, S. I'm finally re-installed with my printer link remapped (or whatever it's called). @=)
