Hi,
I am currently looking at MS 2006 DPM, as second level of backup to offer to our customers.
Currently there is no Exchange agent, so im running a backup to folder in Veritas, to create a flat file structure that DPM can then pick up.
If I select both the mailbox and IS, this will pretty much double the space needed to backup. So im thinking as the DPM solution is not a replacement to backup exec, but more of a second level of protection, will I get away with just the backing up the mailboxes to DPM, then in the event of catrosphic failure. I can use a mix of IS from the tape, and if needed I can use the mailboxes from the DPM backup.
I am of course still doing a full exchange backup to tape, via Veritas Backup Exec.
Is anyone else out there using DPM, and how are they backing up Exchange with it. I am aware that DPM2 will see the addition of agents for SQL and Exchange.
TIA,
Paul
If aint broken, dont try n fix it!!!!!
