Is it me or is it virtually impossible to download software from Cisco's web site. All I want is to download the latest IOS and PDM and I have to register and logon. Even after doing that it tells me that I do not have enough privileges!!!!
Now, maybe it's me, but personally I doubt that unless you already have a PIX you wouldn't want the software. So why the hell make it so hard. It's enough to make you recommend another firewall to customers!!

If you want to download software from Cisco then you have to pay for a contract (Smarnet). A valid user name and password is not enough to download software, your account has to have the required privilleges to download software. Some companys like ZyXel provide the software free of charge but Cisco and other high end companys don't work that way, some companys even charge you for the technical documents. So the bottom line is you have to pay for a smarnet contract if you want to download Cisco images.

Thanks for clarifying that. It seems a little odd since the software can hardly be used for much else.

I agree with you but I understand they have to make some money in order to keep developing new codes and Cisco does a pretty good job at it.
