I want to add a download PDF button in Flash. Can I do this without going outside Flash? Is this easy because I cannot find any documentation on this.

Cheers

JR

all you should have to do is create the button so that it links directly to the file. The way downloading works is that if a browser can't open a file in that browser then it will prompt you and ask if you want to save it to your computer. Since PDFs can't be read by browsers (as far as I know, anyhow) all you have to do is link strait to it like you would an html file. My experience is that you won't have to leave the flash site (because the requested site can't actually be "opened"). Of course, the problem with this is the possibility of you being evil and uploading viruses or something. However, if you find that linking to a pdf file doesn't work, then just change it to a winzip file. Incidentally, you might want to get a simple book on html, because it is this kind of thing which is covered more in basic html scripting than in flash (at least, that's where I was able to learn about it). Good luck, and I hope it works for you.

Jonathan
